“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” is an amazing sequel.

Disney’s Maleficent Mistress of Evil takes the audience back into the re-imagined story of princess Aurora. Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) put a curse on Aurora (Elle Fanning) when she was a young child to an endless sleep when she became of age, but Maleficent realized that she was the key to bringing peace to the kingdom. Maleficent awoke Aurora from the curse that was intended to put her into an endless sleep. Aurora is now the princess of the Moors who has fallen in love with Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson). Prince Phillip’s mother, Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) is hesitant about Phillip marrying the princess of the Moors. Aurora’s godmother, Maleficent, does not approve of the wedding causing a feud between the two kingdoms. Maleficent goes on her own adventure discovering that she is not the last of her kind and learns about her heritage.

This film is fantastic. The cinematography in this film is unparalleled to any other live action film Disney has made this year. The use of long lasting angles combined with the special effects will blow the audience’s minds. The CGI and special effects are spectacular. All of the different creatures from the Moors look so realistic making it seem like the creatures are real. The writing gives the audience a new appreciation for the classic tale that everyone knows. It also provides an impressive backstory to Maleficent’s people. The film does a good job at refreshing the audience’s mind from what took place in the 2014 hit, Maleficent. The acting in this blockbuster is superb. The acting is spectacular in this movie. Jolie does a marvelous job at bringing Maleficent to life. She succeeds at playing a villainous character that is relatable and sympathizable to the audience while keeping true to the character from the original story. Fanning does a great job at playing the strong independent princess Aurora. The chemistry that Jolie and Fanning bring to the screen will make the audience believe that they truly are mother and daughter. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ed Skrein both are very impressive in their roles for this outstanding sequel. The underscore does a great job at creating a beautiful environment for the audience to enjoy.

Maleficent Mistress of Evil is an amazing motion picture. Disney’s work stands out in this sequel compared to their other sequels and remakes that have failed to hit the mark. Disney holds nothing back in this movie. This film is an emotional roller coaster that is so good that you will not want to get off. The sequel will give the audience a new appreciation to a classic story. I absolutely enjoyed getting to watch this film. This is a must see in the box office. I highly recommend this film to anyone who loves a fairy tale story. I give this film a 4.5 out of 5 film reels!
