“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” is a timeless treasure.

A bass guitarist, Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) finds love easily, but when Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) skates into his heart; things get complicated. Flowers has an army of evil exes that follow her everywhere to scare off new suitors. In order for Pilgrim to date Flowers, he must defeat her seven evil exes one by one in “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (2010)”.

“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” has amazing cinematography. The camera work is excellent. The movie does a great job at using the camera work to allow the battles to give a video game vibe while allowing the rest of the film to feel unique to any other.

The CGI in this film is surprisingly excellent. The graphics stand out while feeling a part of the video game world. The overlay of these graphics seems very natural to the story and helps paint the picture of Pilgrim’s story.

The plot of the film is very interesting. The beginning of this film is very slow. It takes a lot of time to introduce the characters and set the plot of the story. However after the first 45 minutes, the story picks up and takes the audience for a whirlwind of a ride. The film does a great job at creating a unique twist for every evil ex and the battle they have with Pilgrim.

The acting in the film is excellent. Cera does an excellent job at playing a socially awkward guy that everyone can relate to in some aspect. The chemistry between Cera and Ramona is surprisingly realistic. There are some surprising guest stars throughout the film including Chris Evans, Anna Kinderick, Brandon Routh, and many more A-List actors.

The score of this motion picture allows for the audience to easily be immersed in the film while keeping the audience on the edge of their seats to the very end.

Director Edgar Wright does an excellent job at making a hilarious unforgettable movie. Wright has directed many films including “Ant-Man (2015)”, “Shaun of the Dead (2004)”, and “Hot Fuzz (2007)”. Even though he has made many films, “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” is a timeless classic.

Wright commented on Cera’s character saying, “Well I think at heart, it’s not as simple as boy meets girl, boy gets girl, it’s really about young love and the ups-and-downs, the immaturity, and insecurities of love at that age. Scott Pilgrim is adolescent and the way that he thinks about a new relationship is it’s the best thing ever and the way that he feel about a break up is it’s the worst thing ever. At that age, you don’t know any better.”

“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” is an unforgettable comedy. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this film. The story made me laugh so much while at times making me realize how ridiculous this plot truly is. I was surprised to see so many famous actors in this unknown movie. I highly recommend this film to anyone who likes rom-coms or videos. This film is available to stream on Netflix. I rate this film a 5 out of 5 film reels.
